The most suprising was saying the Angels would finish under .500, and that the A’s would win the division. Without K-Rod and Texeira though, it’s certainly possible. Although the White Sox haven’t improved either, I’m skeptical to believe the Royals wold end up ahead of them. Also, while the Braves improved, and I resent the Phillies, the Braves ending up in 2nd, tied with the Phillies for a 163rd game as the Wild Card, may not happen. As for the Dodgers projection, that can change with Manny, of course.
Where’s the question? I didn’t see it lol I haven’t been on Yahoo today.

The A’s winning the division? Not with that team and I’m an A’s fan. Their division winners were fine except for that AL West, not remotely close.
I hope they’re right about the Red Sox, but there are so many variables. Which Beckett do we get? How will Lowell be? Can Penney regain his Dodger form from 2006? Does Smoltz still have a few gallons in the tank? Will Bay protect Papi? Is Papi recovered?
As for the Angels, Hunter, Guerrero, Napoli, are a good 3, 4, 5. so what if Garrett Anderson is gone. They have Lackey, Santana and Saunders to hold down the starting rotation and Shields, Spier, Arredondo and Fuentes for the bullpen. They will win the AL West with 90 wins.
The Mets. Who knows? The Phillies need Burrell that much? I don’t know, but neither does the baseball prospectus, who were completely certain to a scientific absolute that the Tigers would win the AL pennant. And that did work out did it?

I like it. If I had to guess, I’d say the Mets will be NL champs, and the Sox are certainly deep enough to take the AL. The Sox offense is still one of the best in baseball, even without Manny, there isn’t really an easy out in the line-up, save for maybe Varitek. Individually these players are all good, but together, having to face one after the other after the other is very tough for pitchers, and makes the line-up very fearsome. Remember, even without Manny, they had a top 3 offense last year, and their pitching is the deepest it’s been in years: Beckett, Dice-K, Lester, Wake, Penny, Smoltz, Ramirez, Okajima, Saito, and Papelbon, plus up-and-comers Masterson, Bucholtz, Bowden, and Delcarmen. I can’t even remember a pitching staff so deep, on any team.
The Mets only real question, relief pitching, was answered in a big way this off-season with the acquisition of K-Rod and Putz, the best closer and set-up men on the market this year. With Reyes and Wright leading the way offensively, along with Beltran and Delgado, and Santana as the staff ace, I don’t really see a team that can compete with them this year.
So yeah, I like the prediction
so many “ifs” on both those teams its tough to say. (Mets and Red Sox)
White sox lost a lot of pitching and they are one year older, while the Royals added crisp which sures up the outfleid defense and they have good starters and a decent bullpen.
